The Supreme Court’s landmark 6–3 decision in Mahmoud v. Taylor will allow parents in Maryland to opt their children out of school lessons featuring LGBTQ+ themed books. In a Hechinger Report article, Associate Professor Campbell Scribner weighs in on the concerns some school leaders have about the about the ruling: “by making this sweeping decision, everyone is going to object to anything now. And why wouldn’t they? If people were worried about this setting an unworkable standard, it will definitely do that.”
