The One Thing Conference provides high-quality, practice-based, MSDE PDP-aligned professional learning experiences for Maryland PK-12 educators, school leaders, and education professionals facilitated by the world-class faculty, researchers, and staff  at the ÉòоÓïÀÏʦ¼Ò·ÃÂ黨ÊÓƵ  College of Education.

Inspiration

In a world of grand challenges that can feel overwhelming, where do we begin? At the ÉòоÓïÀÏʦ¼Ò·ÃÂ黨ÊÓƵ College of Education, believe change doesn't require sweeping reform—it starts with one thing: one insight, one shift in practice, one bold conversation.

Hosted by the ÉòоÓïÀÏʦ¼Ò·ÃÂ黨ÊÓƵ's EdTerps Learning Academy, The One Thing Conference brings PK-12 educators, school leaders, and education professionals together to explore One Thing—a single, powerful idea, strategy, or practice—that can be implemented immediately to transform education for good.

In Summer 2025, The One Thing Conference launched  an inaugural event that brought together 200+ local educators and College of Education faculty and staff for a day-long event featuring 10 sessions, each focused on a single powerful idea to transform education for good.

In Spring 2026, we're announcing new and exciting programming! Join us in March, April, and May 2026 for four intimate, deep-dive Saturday workshops. Each 4-hour session (9am-1pm) will focus on just one topic—a single strategy, practice, or concept with the power to make real change in classrooms and schools.

(2) Learn from World-Class Experts Access cutting-edge, evidence-based teaching practices from the renowned faculty, researchers, and staff at the ÉòоÓïÀÏʦ¼Ò·ÃÂ黨ÊÓƵ College of Education. The One Thing Conference opens the incredible expertise and facilities of the ÉòоÓïÀÏʦ¼Ò·ÃÂ黨ÊÓƵ to you, our local educator community.

(3) Take Home Actionable Strategies Walk away with practical tools and strategies you can use immediately in your classroom. The One Thing Conference is designed to give you concrete, ready-to-implement takeaways that bridge the gap between professional learning and classroom practice—so you can make an impact starting the very next day.

(4) Connect and Collaborate with Fellow Educators Join a community of passionate educators working toward the same goal: improving outcomes and experiences for all students. The One Thing Conference creates authentic opportunities for you to learn alongside both College of Education faculty and local PK-12 practitioners, building meaningful professional connections.
